The castle is situated in the heart of the UNESCO cultural heritage area of the Oberer Mittelrhein. The surrounding vineyards, forests and meadows are ideal for hiking. You will be seduced by the marvellous views of the Rhine valley. The Rheinhöhenweg and Rheinsteig itineraries are easily accessible, as are the extensive bicycle routes of the Rheingold Strasse. Discover the beautiful region by boat from Oberwesel to Assmannshausen. Take the chair lift from Assmannshausen up to the Jagdschloss Niederwald hunting castle. Alternatively, hike from the hunting castle to the Germania Niederwalddenkmal monument. Take the cable railway to Rüdesheim, from where you can take a ferry to Bingen. Return to Oberwesel by train at the end of a fun-filled outing.
